View FoodPlot QuestionsCategory: PlotStart QuestionsHow much plotstart to apply.
Austin Harris asked 6 years ago

Hello! This coming fall a few buddies and I are planning to plant a few food plots.  We took soil samples and they came back good for all the plots but one, which came back as 5.8.  This particular food plot is going to be about an acre in size and we would like to get the pH as close to 6.5 as possible. Should we apply plotstart at the recommended rate (which I understand to be 2.5 gallons per acre) or is our pH low enough to warrant using more than that?  Also are we able to disc, spray plotstart and then immediately plant or is it recommended to spray plotstart a little before you plant? Thank you for any help that you can offer and I look forward to using your product this fall.

Great questions! You can apply PlotStart at 2.5 gallon equivalency to 1 ton of lime per acre. This will help you determine how much PlotStart you need to spray depending on your soil sample. The sooner you get the PlotStart in the ground working the better for the plot.

Thank you,
